6th Kyu (White) Beginner
5th Kyu (Yellow) Minimum 4 Months after Joining & 32 classes
4th Kyu (Orange)
Minimum 4 Months after obtaining 5th Kyu & 32 classes
3rd Kyu (Green) Minimum 4 Months after obtaining 4th Kyu & 32 classes
2nd Kyu (Blue)
Minimum 6 Months after obtaining 3th Kyu & 48 classes
1st Kyu (Brown)
Minimum 6 Months after obtaining 2th Kyu & 48 classes
Shodan (Black)
Minimum 1 year after obtaining 1st Kyu & 96 classes
Nidan (2nd degree Black)
Minimum 2 years after obtaining Shodan
Sandan (3rd degree Black)
Minimum 3 years after obtaining Nidan

Yondan (4th degree Black)

Minimum 4 years after obtaining Sandan

* In keeping with the development of well-rounded students, junior athletes must complete and submit the Notice of Intent to Promote form before becoming eligible to test for their next level.  This form requires the signature of a parent and a teacher, indicating that the athlete is conducting himself or herself in a respectful and cooperative manner, is doing satisfactory work in school and is achieving passing grades.
