We are now in our last month of training before summer break. Looking back over our ‘karate year’, there is a lot to be proud of: our dojo members have represented themselves, our dojo and the province well at a range of tournaments, within the competitor, coaching and referee ranks. On that note, congratulations to all of our competitors in the recent Western Canadian Karate Championships, held this past weekend in Okotoks. Our members participated in 37 different events with great showings and very strong results. Special thank you to Sempai Chris Workman for his work coaching and organizing at the tournament and to Sempai Mariah Blunt for her work organizing entries, competitors and coaching, all while competing in multiple categories.
During classes, everyone has worked hard and the improvements to your techniques are clear. Our efforts for the remainder of the month will be on our preparation for the ICKF - NS Chito-ryu Summer Camp and Friendship Tournament in Yarmouth, NS in August. While classes stop at the end of the month, it is important to keep up your fitness, kata and kumite training throughout July in order to be ready for the camp. See the link on the right side of this page for more information about the camp, including schedules and costs. Please note that payments for the camp should be made during registration on your first day of camp attendance.
- The last day of classes is Friday, June 24.
- Please kindly check your records and ensure that you are up to date on payment of your training fees.
- Have a fun and relaxing summer break!

Enjoy your training!
