Happy Canada Day Everyone!
Our dojo is now on summer break. Classes resume on September 9 at 6 pm for the white/yellow belts. Registration is ongoing – membership fees are paid in three-month blocks – for new members, registration and fee payment occurs when you join.
Remember, Soke Sensei – the worldwide head of Chito Ryu Karate, is holding a summer camp in Canmore from August 7 to 10. All dojo members are welcome – please check the camp website http://ryusan.com/SummerCamp/for schedule, cost and location information. If you have any questions about the camp, please send me an email.
For the last few classes we have been reviewing what we’ve learned throughout the year and, for the adult classes, working on Bo and Kumi-Bo techniques. If you have a chance over the summer, please take some time to review your karate techniques and more importantly, be sure to stay active! Jumping back into karate will be that much easier in September if we all try to stay fit and active.
Congratulations to all those who recently tested for their next belt level. Overall everyone executed the techniques effectively and correctly and worked hard to illustrate their kumite knowledge. Well done to everyone!
Finally – congratulations are also in order for Sempai Mariah Blunt – she was selected to the Junior National Karate Team and will compete at the Pan American Karate Championships in Lima, Peru later this summer.
Thanks for a great year everyone! See you in two months!
Shihan Gary Sabean – Head Instructor
