May has been a busy month so far, with a number of important karate events still to come. We are most fortunate to have several classes scheduled with the worldwide head of our karate style, Soke Sensei, as well as a number of other senior karate practitioners, coming up next week in Canmore, Calgary and Edmonton (May 22-24). Please refer to the events schedule on the right side of this page for dates, times and locations of the classes. While it can be daunting to work with our senior practitioners, it is an amazing opportunity to learn more about the Chito-Ryu style and techniques. Come to the sessions focused and ready to work – during the sessions, keep up your intensity and show great karate spirit and discipline.
There are a number of tournaments scheduled for the coming weeks – the Karate Alberta Open Tournament (Calgary, June 4th ) as well as the Canada Open Tournament (Vancouver, June 3rd and 4th ). For athletes hoping to be considered for the provincial team, please note that your participation in one or the other of these tournaments is mandatory. Please see the Karate Alberta website for more information. Other students wishing to participate in either of the tournaments are more than welcome – please see Sempai Mariah or me for more information.
